Android 8.0 Oreo Features: What's new to your Smartphone?

You all have heard about Google’s new Android OS version Android 8.0 OreoTM. It’s more than a Month from the release date of Oreo and soon you will see your smartphone getting those updates. Therefore in this post, we will look at some of features and updates that we are getting.
Starting from my favorite is a Picture-in-Picture mode which allows you to run more than 1 app at a time. Like you can reply to your WhatsApp messages while doing a video chat. I wish I could have simultaneously opened my YouTube. Yes, we can do that too but, after upgrading it to YouTube Red which is currently not available in India.
Another cool feature is related to our Notification Centre. You can now group your apps notifications and set them how you want them to disturb you. For eg. You can put YouTube’s Notification on ping and WhatsApp Notification to Vibrant. Well, you can snooze notification for some time. Another cool thing done with the notifications is Notification Badge. Now you will not see a dark red color circle with the number displaying the number of Notifications. Instead, you will see a badge colored the same as that app. Just tap on the badge and you will see the details of the notification. You can swipe the details too. Notifications are synched between the dots and the Notification shade, so tapping on one will clear the other.
The Next feature is Auto-fill. You have already dealt with this in your Chrome browser. Now Google is bringing this feature to Mobile chrome. You will be asked to save your details and so the next time you log in to the App, you will be asked for the Auto-fill. This includes your username, password, Debit card details, etc.
The next thing deals with your Smartphones Battery Performance. Oreo keeps a track on all the apps running in the background. It makes sure that apps don't drain your battery by using unwanted resources. The System will also flash a badge that lets you know something’s running in the background, like a tracker and so that you can force stop it. Oreo also makes the Battery Information page much Better. Like it will show which app has used how much of the battery and when you have last fully charged your phone.
This next feature can put a smile on your face, Streamline SMS Authentication. Nowadays you don’t have to manually enter the OTP to authenticate your Mobile number as the app does it by itself. But never the less you get the message and it fills up your Inbox. So this new feature sents a direct token to your app to authenticate the user. You will not receive any SMS for sure.
The next thing deals with your Apps you install it from Play store. This new update scans everything and makes sure that all your apps are safe. Google Play Protect will scan 50 billion Apps per days.
This Adaptive Icons feature is for developers. Developers can now provide an app into any shape like square or circle and OEM’s will mask the icon into device compatible shape. Regarding the shape of icons of the Apps, it will be a circle as you found it on Google pixel smartphone.
Some of the additional feature of Oreo includes its 2x faster Boot speed and faster launch of Apps. Re-enable the wi-fi, if you are close to a wi-fi network. Authenticate your pattern or touch while opening developer’s option and 60 new emojis.
Well, Nexus and Pixel phones have already got the update and others like Samsung, Huawei and OnePlus higher ends smartphones are likely to get the update this month.
These were the updates that are coming up with Android Oreo. I hope you enjoyed reading this. Finally, Thank you.
