What is Net Neutrality?

Net Neutrality has created a lot of buzzes again after FCC abolished it in the US. Therefore, in this post, we will talk about it. First, you should know who are the ISPs?

Who are ISPs?
ISP or Internet Service Provider is an Organization’s that lets us use the Internet. They provide the path to Big Companies or Organization’s to send their services to users. Relating to an analogy, if You are sending a gift to your friend via Road. Then, you are the company, Road is the ISP and your friend is the user of your service or rather gift.

What is Net Neutrality?
“The principle that Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites.” – Google Dictionary.

In simple terms, the ISPs should treat all the websites on the internet equally. Users get to access all the websites on the internet equally and at the same speed. They shouldn’t block you from using any service or make you pay extra for using certain services. Net Neutrality is an Open Internet to all. It gives us the freedom to use the Internet.

What if Net Neutrality is not present?
It then gives more power to ISPs to exploit the Internet. Like, they have the power to degrade the service of one company and provide some extra service to another. They have the power to decide which contents or applications you should watch on the Internet. They can slow down some of the services and even censor certain services.

They can demand some extra payment from Big Companies and provide them better services in return slowing down the services of their competitors. Small Companies or startups, who rely on the open internet to launch their business, advertise their product can easily be faded by Big Monopolies. Without Net Neutrality, next Google or Facebook will never get off the ground.
Without Net Neutrality, the Internet is ruled by ISPs.

I Hope this helps. Finally, thank you.
